Basbousa Saudi Arabia dessert menu. origin from Egypt.
Ingredients:
- 600g semolina flour
- 400g white sugar
- 50g butter
- 1 1/2 tsp dry yeast
- peanuts
- water
- 1 kg sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tbsp rose water
Directions:
1/Semolina batter preparation:In a medium bowl, mix together the semolina flour, 400g white sugar and add 1 1/2 tsp of yeast. Add butter to the semolina mixture. Add water and mix it well until all the semolina flour are moistened. Set aside.
2/Sugar Syrup preparation:In a medium size pan pour 500 ml water and dissolved 1 kg of sugar over a medium-high heat.
Bring to a boil then add 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoon of rose water.

- Boil for 4 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside to cool to room temperature.
Slice into square or diamond shape and place peanuts onto each piece.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes in the preheated oven, or until golden brown.
